The Habonim cryogenic ball valve explained.
The Habonim cryogenic ball valve explained.
All Habonim cryogenic ball valves guarantee a high level of integrity as standard through the patented HermetiX™ stem seal and the updated Total HermetiX™ sealing system of double bonnet seals and double body sealing.
Fire safe and ISO 15848-1 certified
Unlike many other manufacturers, the Habonim cryogenic ball valve does not use a graphite stem seal to ensure fire safe function. As a result, this ball valve is fully certified for 500,000 maintenance-free cycles according to ISO 15848-1 as well as API641 for fugitive emissions. This high number of cycles without the need for maintenance is unique for fire-safe ball valves.

No leakage of voice and body sealing
The Habonim sealing system consisting of double body sealing and double bonnet sealing guarantees absolute tightness over the long term. Leaks through the stem and body seals are prevented with this system. As a result, our Habonim cryogenic ball valves deliver the reliability and integrity that is vital for cryogenic applications.
Minimal thermal expansion
In the development of Habonim cryogenic ball valves, much focus has been placed on thermal expansion. A major hazard for components in cryogenic applications is the effects of switching from ambient temperature to operating temperature (up to -296°C). As a result of these changes, steel parts expand or contract. The expansion of steel parts such as body bolts can have major adverse effects on the sealing of valves.

The conventional method of using body bolts is to use long bolts running through the body. If these bolts expand, unwanted forces are placed on the housing and seals, which can cause leakage at the body seals. Habonim recognizes this risk and prevents leakage by using two shorter body bolts per connection instead of one long one. As a result, thermal expansion is reduced by half, preventing leaks. A simple example of a small modification with major practical consequences.
One compact and automated package
Automated Habonim ball valves come standard with the HabonimCompact™ pneumatic actuator. This actuator features a unique patented rack & pinion design that consists of 4 pistons that create torque around one central piston. This design provides double the torque compared to a conventional rack & pinion actuator, while balancing forces better. Also, the Habonim design provides fast response time, more compact installation and less air consumption. All in all, the Habonim Compact™ delivers twice the outpout as a conventional actuator of the same dimension, or is twice as small as a conventional rack & pinion actuator with the same output.
