The Habonim Compact™ actuator is a quarter-turn rack & pinion pneumatic actuator with a unique design that maximizes output and minimizes air consumption.
In the Compact™ actuator, four pistons create output around one centrally located pinion. Using four pistons instead of the conventional number of two doubles the power of the actuator as a whole. At the same time, both pistons and chambers can be made smaller, resulting in lower overall air consumption and faster response times. The result is doubled output compared to a conventional rack & pinion of the same size, either half the size for the same output. This makes this actuator a very compact solution, which brings advantages if available space is scarce. The design of the actuator ensures a more stable movement of the pistons, making wear and tear less likely to occur with this actuator.
The single-acting version of the patented Compact™ actuator features a spring package that allows the actuator to always send a valve open or close when the air supply fails. This ensures fail-safe function. Habonim actuators are standard SIL 3 and ATEX 2GD c/g T4-T6 certified.

Application
The series of single-acting actuators consists of fifteen variants, each of which can be fitted with eight different spring packages. The 'M' series is equipped with a spring cartridge which increases the spring torque of the actuator. This makes these actuators perfectly adaptable to specific local conditions and to a specific required tightening torque of a valve.
Habonim Compact™ actuators can be used on any type of quarter-turn valve, making them also applicable to any type of ball valve, butterfly valve and plug valve. Because of the compact design, these actuators are well suited for mounting when space is limited. Because of the SIL 3 certification, which makes the actuator fully SIL-2 certified in combination with a Habonim valve as a package, this actuator is well suited for use in a SIL loop. Because of its standard fast closure, this actuator is well suited for emergency shutdown service (ESD).
