Handwheels with worm gear (GK)
Product information
Handwheel actuators with worm gearbox (type GK) are used when a linear valve is so large that operation by a standard handwheel is too heavy, awkward or time-consuming.
The handwheel, operated by the user, is connected to a helical shaft, also called a worm. The worm rotates against a worm wheel that is perpendicular to the worm. The teeth of the worm wheel engage in the grooves of the form, providing a controlled and delayed transmission of force. This converts the rotation of the handwheel into a slower and more powerful rotational movement of the wormwheel. This allows a large force to be realized on the valve with low force of operation.
We supply standard cast iron worm gearboxes from AUMA to ensure the best quality. If required, we can supply worm gearboxes from other manufacturers.
The use of worm gearboxes is recommended for gate valves with sizes from DN350.
