Stenflex rubber expansion joints type AS-2 (and type AS-4) are flameproof rubber expansion joints with steel cord inserts, rotatable flanges and tie rods. Various flange bores are possible. Thanks to the tie rods, the pressure reaction force in a system is absorbed and the expansion joints can only absorb lateral displacements.
Type AS-2 and type AS-4 :
- In the AS-2 type, the tie rods are bounded only on the outside, preventing the expansion joint from extending.
- In the AS-4 type, the tie rods are bounded both on the outside and on the inside, preventing the expansion joint from lengthening and compression. As in vacuum.

Application
These expansion joints are an A expansion joint with steel cord inserts, this allows the AS rubber expansion joint to be used up to 130°C. In this way, the expansion joints meet strict flameproof requirements. Due to the flameproof properties, these expansion joints can also be applied in fire extinguishing lines.
Flameproof is a requirement in ship engine rooms. The AS-expansion joints have passed flameproof tests by several classification societies and therefore have many type approvals for use on ships. The AS-compensator is also suitable for use in CV-systems and has the TÜV/DIN 4809 certificate.
