Stenflex rubber expansion joints type RS-2 (and type RS-4) are flameproof rubber expansion joints with steel cord inserts, swivel flanges, tie rods. Various flange bores are possible here. These types are similar to AS-2 expansion joint, only with an installation length of 130 mm. The tie rods absorb the pressure reaction force in a system.
Type RS-2 and Type RS-4:
- In the type RS-2, the tie rods are limited only on the outside, which prevents the expansion joint from extending.
- In the type RS-4, the tie rods are bounded both on the outside and on the inside, preventing the expansion joint from lengthening and compression. As in vacuum.

Application
Types RS-2 and RS-4 are in fact R expansion joint with steel cord inlays. Because of these inlays, the RS expansion joint can be used up to 130°C and the expansion joint meets flameproof requirements. Due to the flameproof properties, these expansion joints can also be applied in fire extinguishing pipes.
Flameproof is a requirement in ship engine rooms. The RS-expansion joints have passed flameproof tests by several classification societies and therefore have many type approvals for use on ships. The RS expansion joint is also suitable for use in CV systems and has the TÜV/DIN 4809 certificate.
